Dear Friends,
I wonder if your prayer at Christmas time was something like this?
“May I know the light of Christ amidst darkness, his hope during my pain, his peace amid my chaos, his joy that outlasts my sorrow, and his love that conquers death. May I know Emmanuel, the God who is with me, and may I be sent out now as his witness today. Amen.”
As you step into 2026, as His witness, would you consider making this your New Year prayer:
“I am no longer my own, but yours.
Put me to what you will, rank me with whom you will;
Put me to doing, put me to suffering;
Let me be employed for you, or laid aside for you,
Exalted for you, or brought low for you;
Let me be full, Let me be empty, Let me have all things, Let me have nothing:
I freely and wholeheartedly yield all things
To your pleasure and disposal.
And now, glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
You are mine and I am yours. So be it.
And the covenant now made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven. Amen. *
Yours in Christ,
Dr. Samson Gandhi

*The Methodist Covenant prayer, written by John Wesley himself in 1755, is prayed by millions of Methodists at the start of every year. It’s a liturgy of consecration – profound and beautiful surrender.
